Rebuilding Hope: IDA's Impact on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Recovery Journey

The International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank played a key role in Bosnia and Herzegovina's post-1990s conflict reconstruction. Through projects supporting infrastructure, economic recovery, and EU integration, IDA helped transform the country into an upper-middle-income economy. These investments reduced poverty and enabled Bosnia to become a symbol of resilience and sustainable development.

Notably, the Stari Most bridge in Mostar, which collapsed during the 1993 Siege, symbolizes the country's resilience. IDA’s financial assistance, exceeding $1 billion, was crucial in rebuilding infrastructure and promoting economic recovery. Bosnia is now advancing toward EU integration.
