Safet Oručević Honored at 65th Anniversary of Mostar’s Mechanical Engineering Faculty

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the "Džemal Bijedić" University in Mostar marked its 65th anniversary with a solemn session of the Faculty’s Scientific-Teaching Council. The event celebrated decades of academic excellence and contributions to education, innovation, and post-war reconstruction.

Among the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of Safet Oručević, former mayor of Mostar and director of the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation. Oručević was honored for his significant contributions to the city and the university’s development during some of the most challenging times in its history. In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mirna Nožić, warmly welcomed attendees on behalf of the faculty’s staff and students. She reflected on the faculty's journey since its establishment, emphasizing the milestones achieved and the dedication of its academic community over the years.

During the ceremony, the Faculty presented special acknowledgments to professors who played a pivotal role in training the faculty’s own cadre of educators. Additionally, gratitude was extended to individuals who provided critical support in re-establishing and developing the university during the war and post-war periods.

This celebration not only highlighted the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s legacy but also underscored its role in shaping the academic and professional landscape of the region.
